Question: Is anyone on or have ever been on suboxone?

I am addicted to optiate pain medication and am no longer being prescribed them. Now I have resorted to buying them. I cannot live this way any longer! I know its expensive to do this program but I would spend more money buying the pain meds. I want to know if it is really worth it, does it really help? Also, do you get any kind of high on these pills? Does it help with pain? I was in a car accident and severly damaged my leg. Also, can you explain to me the whole process? Do they make you do counseling? drug test you? count your pills? Any information you can give me I would appreciate. I just need some advise as to whether or not to move ahead with this. I dont want to spend the $2000 dollars if it isnt really worth it. Would you recomend suboxone or methadone? Also, do health insurnace companies cover the treatment, or at least cover the pills? |

Methadone is a synthetic opioid used medically as a painkiller, but also to treat patients on opioids such as heroin. |

If you want to make your addiction worse, then yes, get on suboxone or methadone. They are both long acting opioid replacement therapies when they are taken as a maintenance drug. If you are going to spend 2 grand, go to rehab for a month and they will do a gentle detox using sub for a few days...which is the only way you won;t get addicted to it. Suboxone sucks for pain relief too, but has all the same negative side effects as a true opiate...actually worse side effects. you can forget about sex after a while on sub, and you can forget about leaving your house, or answering the phone, or having friends. subsux.com |

I have used Suboxone (buprenorphine) and the injectable form of it. It was prescribed to me by a doctor in Mexico. It helps take the edge off opiate withdrawal, and it is worth buying and using for this purpose, however, $2,000 is much higher than the cost of the pills. It does not get you high, nor did I get any pain relief from it. I'm not a lawyer and I never have been charged with driving under the influence (DUI). The people I've known who were busted for DUI were forced to go to Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, and to be drug tested, and to have monthly visits with a probation officer. If you were not cited or charged with a crime then you don't have to worry about Court ordered counseling or drug testing. If you were arrested or cited for driving under the influence (DUI) then you can be subjected to the same sanctions as somebody arrested for DUI on alcohol. However, the Court does not have to treat a medication-related DUI the same as an alcohol-related DUI. If you admitted to being an addict to the police or the Court, then you will probably receive the same legal treatment as a drunk driver. Otherwise, as long as you have a prescription and you state that you take the medication according to your doctor's instructions, and the Court believes you then the case will be treated like a regular accident and the DUI charge will be dismissed. If you cannot show a prescription or the bottle for the medication you took, then you could be facing jail time. The Court might count the pills if you bring the bottle to court. Most good health insurance plans that you get from your job include addiction treatment. You will have to check with your health insurance provider to find out whether or not the treatment and pills are covered, as not all insurance plans are the same.
