Question: Why do opiates make me feel normal?

I either have: Bipolar Disorder or Severe Depression. My shrink says it's bipolar but when I was hospitlized they wrote Major (or Severe) Depression. I've abused narcotics, like Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, and Heroin. I had to go to detox. When I got off of them I sunk so low into a depression. I just found a Vicodin an hour ago and took it. I feel like I am a normal person, I have energy to do stuff and I just feel like I want to be alive and not die. I know as soon as it wears off I will sink again into a deep dark suicidal depression. I have a script of Vicodin waiting for me at CVS. I want to get it filled so badly but I think that might lead me down the same path as before. I only got the script because I had dental work done. ANY IDEA WHAT I SHOULD DO? I wish i felt normal all the time I've been DX'd with Bipolar, Depression, PTSD, OCD, Opiate Dependancy, anxiety

I am going through the exact same thing as you except I spent so much money on recovering from opiate addiction that i don't want to start using again. But im depressed and I have been diagnosed with all the same things as you. If you find out what you can use besides opiates please let me know cause that was the only thing that helped me to. I just don't want to go down that road agian because of the expensive addiction therapy.
