I happened upon on an old Percocet prescription while cleaning last week, and I wantonly consumed 40 plus pills in 4 days...needless to say I'm queasy, achey, lethargic and suffering from intense malaise. How best to white- knuckle through? |

Stopping cold turkey is not good for you. then starting when not necessary was not a great idea either. If you have a couple more tablets, use 1/ 2 tab every 12 hours for 3 days then stop. Destroy the old tablets you don't need. "White knuckle " is a good way for your body to tell you that this is nothing to fool with. |

You took 10 pills each day?! You're probably NOT having withdrawal symptoms -- you're suffering the side effects! The maximum amount of acetaminophen for adults is 1 gram (1000 mg) per dose and 4 grams (4000 mg) per day. Taking more acetaminophen could cause damage to your liver. This would equal either 6 of the Percocet that have 650 mg of acetaminophen per tablet, or 12 of them that contain 325 mg of acetaminophen as the max dosage per day. If you drink more than three alcoholic beverages per day, talk to your doctor before taking Tylenol (acetaminophen) and never use more than 2 grams (2000 mg) per day. The danger doesn't lie in the narcotic portion, but rather in the acetaminophen. If you did this, which I hope you didn't, you need to get your liver enzymes checked STAT! I've cared for two Tylenol ODs (overdoses) that both resulted in death and it was an extremely unpleasant way for these people to die. You may also want to find different recreational activities besides taking leftover meds. I'm pretty sure you're trying to be funny, but ODing on acetaminophen isn't a joking matter. If you REALLY did this, please go see a doctor NOW! Nurse KittehKat |
