How can i tell if my boyfriend is using heroin again?

Question: How can i tell if my boyfriend is using heroin again?

(Posted by: on 2012-01-04 16:06:59)

I've never been around anyone that used heroin so I'm not quite sure what to be looking for. My boyfriend was a heroin addict before we got together. He asked me out when he was using and I told him no because of his habit. A while after that he got help and quit and we've been together since then. He now takes suboxone and has been for over a year now but he injects it. I guess he's been trying to ween himself off of it. When he comes to my house to stay the night he takes it three, four or sometimes five times. I ask him all the time why he won't take it like it supposed to (it's a film you put under your tongue and let dissolve) but he never gives me a serious answer. He's always been really sensitive and emotional. I can't look for track marks because he used a needle for his medicine anyway. His sleep schedule is always messed up. He seems different lately and I'm worried because I know he's been around heroin again and people that use it. I'm not sure what to do and I'm afraid to confront him about it. I'd just like to know what I should be looking for. Or if someone could explain to me what are normal side effects while taking suboxone. I just care for him and I'm really concerned. Thank you.

Just your intuition is a huge warning 'red flag' for you to listen to. Some practical things, like not sleeping, the way he looks, if he asks for or takes money, things, or the like. You are afraid because you are now emotionally involved and it would hurt more to say bye. But you really need to go see someone trained to work with people involved with addicts and get realistic about your expcetations and the course of serious addictions, which often includes many set backs and frustrations. You have to be ready to do and say and follow through with ending the relationship, and taking care of yourself in the same way you set your boundaries at the start. You should seek out support and start getting your head out of the clouds and learn about heroin addiction and get realistic,, face reality not your fantasy that he is no longer a user. there are free narc a non meetings in many places, look in the yellow pages and find alcoholics anonymous and call and find out what meetings are available for alanon and narcanon and call and talk to a rehab counselor. You really need to wise up quickly. Best wishes. happy new year anyway

Honestly hun, think about yourself and future on this one. Do u really want an ex druggie as your husband and father of your children? long story short, you should just leave him. It will be better for you in the long run. I promise.

If he is hidding is arms and wearing long sleeves it could be that he is hiding the track marks. if the arms are bruised and the vaines look bruised thats usually a sign as well. sleeping alot no energy to do anything. and shaking and throwing becoming violently ill is also a sign that he is needing a fix or he is withdrawing, good luck

Do yourself a favor and get out of that relationship now! Care about him as a friend only. Think of your own safety first. HIV, hepatitis ,Problems with police for starters. Get away from that lifestyle. If he is still hanging around users he is not serious about sorbriety.
