Question: Methadone and heroin and driving license?
(Posted by: Sabina_Rois on 2010-01-31 18:05:08)
I have drug addicted friend. He's on methadone but he's still taking heroin sometimes. Because of the medicine and the drugs for him is really hard to concentrate, he forgets really easy, he doesn't really think clear. Sometimes he looks totally lost even when he's trying to walk to somewhere. The medical institution he goes to take the methadone know he's still take heroin and in what kind of states he gets sometimes. The thing is - he still has his driving license. Is that normal? I mean, i think it's dangerous for him and other people on the road to let him drive. Fortunately nothing has happened while he's driving, but still, isn't it any legal prohibition for people in that situation to have driving license? |

It is illegal to drive impaired on any drug but the thing is you have to get caught doing it. They will not talk away your license because you are on a med, only if they prove you are driving on it and it impairs you. Then you get charged go to court and the judge can take it away. Or I suppose someone can make a phone call to law enforcement. Tell your friend to try a Suboxon clinic, it is like Methadone without many of the horrible side affects of Methadone, and it's less addictive, plus it is much more affective at helping people kick drugs. |
