(Posted by: mandi=] on 2010-01-28 16:03:57)
My friend went to NYC(Brooklyn) and well...long story short got a heroin shot from some guy standing outside a hospital. The guy asked if she knew what it was and she said ya then she thought he was a doctor and the shot was to keep her from getting it...ya she wasn't thinking. Then he wrapped a band around her arm and stuck it in her arm. She then said the following happened... 1. Around the injection area there where very small red dots 2. her arm had a spasm right after injected 3.she was delirious and loopy *Then her parents took her to the doctors and had her tested and they said there was heroin in her.She had a Fever(idk how high)...* DOES THIS SOUND LIKE SOMETHING THAT HAPPENS AFTER INJECTED WITH HEROIN?????? my mom says she lying but she not the kind of person to lie and i believe her |

It does sound strange the way it happened to her, but if the Doctor said she had heroin in her then it might well be. I would just say a couple of things; Make sure she HIV test (the needles they use are never clean), she might be addicted to heroin now (many says it only takes once to get injected and you are stuck). Well, I think these are the 2 worst scenarios of course and both can lead to death of course. If it happened this way I do feel sorry for her, being so naive and think it was a Dr who gave this to her. In any case, good luck to her. |

Your friend sounds like she's full of it. No doctor would be walking around the outside of a hospital offering free injections. Those symptoms could be for any kind of injectable drug (heroin, crack, meth, etc.) Your friend needs to get tested for HIV, hepatitis C and hepatitis B no sooner than 3 months after this happened. 70-90% of injection drug users have chronic hepatitis C, which can over time lead to liver cirrhosis, cancer and death. It is 50 times more contagious than HIV and can be spread by sharing needles (even if they have been bleached) or "works " (spoons or other equipment used to "cook " injection drugs). Hopefully your friend is ok, but I also think it would do her good to think about the consequences of letting anyone other than a doctor stick a needle in her arm. |
