Question: Why do people often tie an elastic band tight around their arm when shooting drugs like heroin?

So, I have never done any drugs especially the kind you use needles but, I was just curious about this like, I know it does something but I wasn't quite sure. Answers please?

Same reason they tie around your are when taking blood.. makes viens stick out

I've never done drugs either and never plan to but putting the elastic band is to cut off the circulation and m,ake the veins pop out making it easier to inject.

They tie the elastic band (called tourniquet) to block the blood in the veins so that the vein becomes visible on skin surface and u can inject in it it is not a technique done by those stupid heroin shooters, it is a technique used in giving IV medications in general
