Question: Why are so many people stupid enough to try heroin or cocaine?

Im not at all against drug use but i dont see how anyone can not be aware of how awful heroin withdrawal is and the fact that although it might be a great high it doesnt last but you still gota waste all your money on it to feel normal and not get sick. or the fact that with cocaine the high has pretty much come and gone before you know it. i dont get it at all. theres so many other drugs that are just as good but nowhere near as destructive yes but there are other drugs that make you feel good without turning you into a thief or a prostitute i know a lot of people turn to drugs out of desperation, because thats what i did. nny point is why take something which is guna stop having any good effects after a while or something that wears off after like 10 minutes wayne- wtf are you talking about? who the **** you calling dim you ******* retard!

Your own question is a very good example of the idiocy behind any and all illicit drug use. (both prescription and illegal drugs) It's all just an attempt to escape reality because people don't have what it takes to actually live life. pathetic really.

I think people accidentally try it and there hooked I used to know a lot of heroin addicts and they just say that even though that they hate it they just need to get rid of the urge as for cocaine it just makes you very active and it helps you lose weight but it is very expensive

Mate, it's not that difficult question. If someone is really tired of life and there is no happiness in it, he would try to get out of it the easy way. Drugs like heroin and cocaine become charming for him as any illiterate knows the name and effects of these drugs. So they use them. Another motivation is the peer pressure. It may happen that your buddies are using these drugs and you want to be cool too, so you may be forced by your friends to use these drugs.

Some people's lives are so bad, that most people (including myself), can't even imagine, so they just need an escape from it, and they don't even care about the consequences. Obviously, not everyone who tries them are doing this, but most of them are. I've known some smack addicts, who were abused every single day of their lives when they were very young, mentally, physically, and sexually, and I'd imagine that's something that's very difficult to deal with. They'd do anything to escape the pain, and forget about it. They don't value themselves at all (which is totally understandable), so they don't really care what they do to their bodies. If you've never been shown any love, and maybe been tortured and abused all your life, you're not exactly going to be thinking that the drug you're going to be taking, is destructive. The life they've known, has already been destroyed.

When it comes to cocaine people just love the feeling of the high. when it comes to herion people don't realise how addictive it is and how terrible the withdrawals are. of course some people have such problems that they don't care aboutt he bad side to drugs. bte the peak of coke or crack is short, but the high.happy feeling can last hours. any drug can be disstructive. think of the damage alcohol and meth can do. speed [and other amphetamine medications] is another drug people don't think about. it can be addictive and you can spend loads of money on it. even things like ectasy and LSD can kill you. not to mention medications like benzodiazipines, opiods like codiene, hallucinagenic med's, tranquilizing med's. you can get hooked on so many things, for so many reasons. you can become a thief stealing painkillers from the chemist! anyone can become a postitute if they spend alot of money on whatever drugs/ med's they take. wether these drugsmed's are "just as good " as herion or cocaine i don't know. only drug takers who've tried loads can tell you that.

Everyone is doing drugs from the homeless right up to top end business men. I will not go into detail as to why people choose to do drugs but your image of the typical drug user seems to be one of popular belief and media brainwashing.

My husband tried heroin a long time ago because he want to feel the ultimate Nirvana. This turned into a habit and he damn near killed himself. He wasn't stupid by any means. I've tried morphine myself but stopped in time so it didn't turn into an addiction.

I wouldn't try drugs, we can see clearly how damaging they are but people act in a way that is damaging to them for many reasons now alot of people who use drugs like cocaine and heroine and dont get hooked their life doesn't go down the pan, now dont get me wrong alot of people get addicted and it takes over there life but theres alot of people i know who used drugs usually socially at parties or with work mates at the weekend and worked as usual after that then didnt carry on with it, fact is alot of people will experiment with drugs and then leave them and carry on with no damage done, most people who are hard drug addicts start smoking and drinking like most young people and try weed a few times which i have im in college now and i dont smoke drink or use drugs because ive experimented but for alot of people weed is a gateway drugs, theres people from my estate who was smoking weed then crack then injecting these are kids who cant see their future,and they are naive its a process some people experiment but that wasnt enough they kept going further theres alot of people who try it as an experiment and it takes over some lives, the reasons differ mostly its not stupidity its naivety dont forget theres alot of people who cant see beyond next week,for others its all about escapism if you've come out the better end and a recovered addict then you know in hindsight it was stupid and probably torturing yourself with endless questions about why this happened and why other people do it

Having never taken any drug which I wasn't given on prescription, I don't know the effects. But I am a smoker, and told a while ago "I was a mild alcoholic " by my doctor.. So I accept I could be classed as an Addict.. Smoking, well done that most of my life.. Drinking, that happened because of something traumatic that happened. I found drinking a bottle of wine in the morning, was the only way to get me through each day. So I would think that many people become addicted to any way of freeing themselves from pain. What they end up being addicted to probably depends on where they go and who they meet. Is that the difference why people and addictions differ so much.. Does it in the whole come down to "class "... ie: People classed at the lower end of the social scale (through no fault of their own) use heroin, crack, smack? Where as a line of cocaine might be used those living the "good " live style. Those high flyer's who think it's just for recreational purpose's??? As for other things mentioned in your answers such as : speed (amphetamines) LSD and such like, surely that's for the younger element, those who think it will just help them "have a great time out that night "... What ever the case, it just seems so sad no-one seems to be able to enjoy themselves without getting high.. Hope you can learn how to live life with the aid of any drug.... When is it your time to grow up, life your life as yourself.... Forget that 10, 20 90 Min's of high.. OK, I take antidepressants. I that my high??? I have to say I never feel "high " not even good.. Just keeps me here I suppose....
