For our play in drama, I play a heroin addict. It was originally decided I would just pass out, but my drama teacher decided to make it more...gruesome and intense. How can I make it look realistic, yet get a good response from the audience. Also any other tips on being a heroin addict?

methadone pills and syringes Methadone is a synthetic opioid used medically as a painkiller, but also to treat patients on opioids such as heroin.

Realistically most heroin overdoses are a "nodding-out " and never waking up again, found blue and unresponsive. Withdrawal of heroin includes vomiting, shaking, muscle weakness, intense nausea, and intense craving of the drug that got you there to take back away that pain. So, realistically passing out (nodding off) is as true as you get. But for the drama element, throw in the withdrawal symptoms. 99% of the general population wouldn't know the difference anyway.
