My son died of a heroin overdose. I didn't even know he used drugs?
My 25 year old son recently died of a heroin overdose. I am having an extremely hard time dealing with the loss, and I cannot find any closure. I had no idea he even used drugs. He was a funny, bright, intelligent young man, with everything going for him. He has dealt with depression in the past, although he always hid it well. I honestly never knew he used any type of drugs, ever. I am absolutely heartbroken. How could I have not known? I feel like if I had known, I could have done something about it. I just hope he didn't suffer in his last moments of life. What happens to a person when they overdose on heroin, is it painful? I just pray he went peacefully.

How long does it take to die from a heroin overdose?
My ex husband just passed away this past week and I'm confused. He went out with his brother which is when he did the drug than came home, ate supper, got really sweaty and said he was tired. He went to bed around 11pm. She sleep in a really deep sleep all night. He was breathing the next morning and still had color before his roommate left for school 8 am . He checked on him before he left The roommate forgot something at home and came back about 10 minutes later and my ex's brother said he called 911 because he wasn't breathing. When the roommate went in to do CPR my ex was now a bluish color and still in the same spot he was when the roommate left 10 minutes earlier. So can it take hours to die from this or does anyone have any other suggestions as to what it could have been. My ex had been clean for almost 2 years prior to this and deathly afraid of needles so the whole thing sound strange to me.

What do people use as a heroin overdose resuscitation drug?
I'm actually writing a Review, and I'm just looking for good metaphors. I'm wondering if anybody knows what drugs people use to wake someone up from a delusive state. I watched Trainspotting once, I don't know how many people may have heard or seen the film, but I remember one heroin addict portrayed in the film was administered an injection when he thought he was going to die from taking too much heroin, I think it began with " V" . Anyway, anything would help, thanks

My cousin died of a Heroin overdose, it's left me with questions?
My cousin died of a Heroin overdose. My poor aunt found her dead, face down and on the floor. I am just trying to make sense of a few things...Is a Heroin overdose a fast death? I mean, did she suffer or did she die quickly? I just wonder if at any point she could have called 911.Also, my aunt went in to some pretty painful and gory details and it left me wondering...She said she found her face down on the floor, how did she most likely end up on the floor? Is it possible she was trying to go call 911?My aunt said it looked like all the blood went to her face... My aunt also said her body started to " curl" , maybe from decay... But it sounds like she was dead for a while, but how long does the stiffness and blood pooling in the face and decay start? My aunt had her cremated because the body looked so awful, it was not swollen but it was bad.Or is the curling body a side effect of the heroin?Oldmanwithcayote...Thank you, we will always remember the good. She was off and on again, she would be okay for a while and when she was okay she was a joy to be around. But when she was back on drugs again she was miserable to be around. My aunt has been trying to keep a brave front and to me it seems like she is focusing on the bad and has been saying things like " she expected it eventually so she was already mentally prepared" . And, " she was such a burden on everyone maybe it was for the better" .She left a young son behind, he is 8. He kind of understands, but he's doing okay. Honestly... it is sad but he was not all that attached to her, my aunt could never leave him alone with her because she was so negligent. It hurts a lot, I could never imagine finding my own child dead on the floor like my aunt did though, no matter how old they are. We're just so glad her son didn't find her.I hope she is in peace where ever she is...I guess I am just confused as to why she was not able to call 911, why it took my aunt so long to find her when they live under the same roof, it sounded to me like she had been there for a while but I was not sure.I guess I am just wondering if she could have been helped had she been found soon enough. It would also bring me comfort to know she did not suffer and hang on for a long time in pain and knowing she was about to die but unable to do anything about it.Revolution... Thanks. It is good to know she probably didn't suffer. And the dehydration makes sense for the curling.I don't ask these things on Y A out of bravery though lol, but mostly because I would have no idea how to answer such a question. And honsetly, I don't tell my friends about my family issues. It is embarassing for me. I really don't want to burden them and also I don't really want them knowing about my family that way. I love my family but I keep them seperate from my social life to avoid the embarassment of having them see my messed up family as a part of who I am.So it is nice being able to have my questions answered by complete strangers I never have to see.
