Question: Reasoning with a heroin addict and few more questions?

I'd prefer users - ex users - and people that were living with or around users to answer please. Can you reason with a heroin addict that's high? - i met a girl few days back (i saw her first and last time up to now then), and by the looks of her i could tell that she's either using or she was using in the past (i've grown up around heroin addicts as a child so i pretty much recognize one when i see one - especially if i spent few minutes talking to them - H leaves a mark on a person that a keen eye can easily see). We talked a while (well... she did most of the talking), asked me few questions like what's my name ^^ and where do i live and stuff (since i'm kinda new in that hood). I thought nothing of it. Like i said, i grew up around junkies, and most of them were good people with a bad Habit and i never felt threatened around them. But last night, i got a disturbing call from my first neighbour & my mother shortly after, that some girl is screaming my name in front of the building @ around 23:00 and trowing little stones (marbles) at my windows (i was working night shift, still am as a matter of fact). They freaked out. First, cause someone was screaming my name and throwing rocks at windows late at night, and second, they really didn't like when they found out who that was. (for various reasons) Anyway, i'd like her to stop doing that cause she upset my neighbours and my mother, but i don't want to be rude cause i think she's getting more then enough of that in her life. For example, after our conversation half of the neighbours asked me am i insane, and why did i talk with her, do i know she's a junkie etc. I'm afraid that if i can't get to her, and she does that again, they'll call the cops and then she'll be in more trouble then she already is. So, can i reason with her, like please don't do that again, neighbours freaked out? How aware they are when nodding out? - this question is not related with the first one. I've seen lots of them walking, then stopping (nodding) 15 mins later, they are crouching & nodding, 15 mins after that they are sitting and nodding, then after some time they get up (look confused to me) look left, right go in the direction they chose only to see them 100- 200 meters further doing the same standing- crouching- sitting nodding session. (do they know where they want to go at all? or they just don't know how to get there?) Can they hear me talking while nodding out? Will they remember the conversation? Thanks <3 |
