Question: Heroin addiction , keeps people going to jail?

I am a 28 year old guy who has had a heroin problem for a few Years now. I did almost 2 years in prison from it for posession and Theft charges. I got out a year ago , and have struggled on and off. Im clean now but back in january I relapsed and i was so desperate for cash that i stole from a store. Now im alraedy under supervision by Probation . Obviously stupid i know but i was dopesick . Anyway when i left the store i set alarm off and was asked by employees to stop but i had the car parked out front so i just got in and drove off. Ever since this happened ive been so scared that they could have gotten my plate numbers. It wasnt anything big, just a couple of shirts that i was gonna sell.....So ive seen my Po , and he didnt know about it , ive even been pulled over for speeding , and they didnt have any warrant on me , and ive asked at the courthouse if i had warrants and they said no, ............so its been a few months now, did they probably just let it go ............................

You probably got very lucky and they didnt catch the plate numbers. If you havent been caught by now, nothing is going to happen. Its your paranoia. Stop doing heroin for gods sake...at least just calm yourself down with some pot....really.

The store probaly gave you a break, just relax for a few days and then go out

Yea, if they dont have anything on it your good, but it sounds like you need to go to rehab. that shit with the law is not fun, my bf going to jail for 11 months:[ idk what im ganna do.

Looks to me like you are in the clear. A lot of local police departments will not really do much for simple crimes like that unless they catch you in the act. Recently a man robbed a nearby house for a few hundred dollars. The police still haven't caught him, and told the family there is not much they can do besides hope he commits a similar crime in the area or leaves evidence behind. Take my advice, do the right thing from now on. I have been clean off drugs for 2 years now, after also doing 2 years in state prison. I have done a total of 5 years. I have been clean though, and have no regrets about anything i have done. That doesn't mean i'm going to do it again. You will realize there is more out there than drugs. It is hard to learn how to have fun sober, but you will will learn how great it is.
