Heroin Addiction: Methadone & Heroin Facts

Question: Are there any good christian books to help with heroin addiction recovery?

My fiance has been hiding a heroin addiction for several months. He had claimed that he quit many times, however never truly did. It wasn't until he went to jail for assault, and he was unable to do it for a couple weeks, that he stopped using. While in jail, he began reading the Bible and praying, and has taken a newfound interest in these things and is finding inspiration in them. I want to encourage this, and was wondering if anybody knew of any inspirational books on how to deal with beating addictions from a Christian standpoint (heroin specifically would be good, however drugs in general would be extremely helpful as well). I have done internet searches for such books with almost no luck. Thanks in advance for your answers!

Opiates are serious. He will continue to fight his addiction his entire life and more than likely drag you down with him. Cut your bait lady. They never change once they've got to his point. Religion just puts a happy face on an hypocrite. The lying won't stop. He'll just do it behind your back because he figures you are too ignorant or naive to notice.

I think your BF could greatly benefit from participation in a 12 step program of recovery. Step 2 - Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity Step 3 - Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood God While not explicitly Christian the spiritual deminsion of the program attracts many Christians pf all denominations. The program also provides new sober friends and time structure in activities related to recovery. Good luck to you both!
