Heroin Addict: Methadone & Heroin Facts

Question: Can an ex heroin addict use heroin once a fortnight and not be addicted?

My partner used to inject heroin for about 6 months'ish, ended up in prison and successfully completed an intense rehabilitation program. He was clean for about a year and a half and now wants to smoke it once a fortnight. He doesn't think that he has a problem or will ever have a problem again. I though don't agree. We have 18 years behind us, 3 kids and the 4th on the way. I'm so so close to throwing in the towel. This is unacceptable in my eyes for myself and my children, what would you do in my position? Anyone???

I dont think thats something that he should risk doing (or you!). After he ended up in prison, spent all that time and energy trying to get clean he shouldn't EVER use it again. Its just not healthy or responsible- and if he was addicted before, more than likely he will get addicted again. I dont think he should be that selfish- he obvious still has cravings for it and it is highly unlikely that he will be able to be fine with the "occasional " injection. Don't let him put you and your family through that.

I don't think he can use and not become addicted again to probably anything. If he's determined, then start making some plans without him. Good luck!!

I have dealt with alot of personal drug use. Now that he is clean he thinks he has one and can do it just once. However, from personal experience, he is wrong. The physical symptoms are gone until around for or five usages, but the mental is forever. I hope this helps, and i hope he does not need to do rehab again to find this out.

Once you're hooked it's hard to let go. It takes A LOT of will power and professional help to get over the addiction.

Rehab, or dump his ass. If he is'nt willing to improve his life for you and your children, then why bother.
