Question: Help me please!!!!! my brother may have a drug addiction?
(Posted by: beefyc on 2010-02-03 14:59:07)
My brother got into the wrong group of people just after he left school, he started drinking and smoking weed a lot, when i found out last august i threatened to tell my parents and he promised he would stop, later in november my mum found marijuana in his bedroom and she was devastated, he had never been a bad boy and she always trusted him now she feels as thought she has lost him and nothings been the same since, she even started smoking which upsets me because she was so healthy. Earlier tonight i went downstairs and saw him sitting on the floor watching tv in the dark, i walked in and right away i could smell weed, i asked him and he denied it, but he wasn't himself and was really weird he then admitted it and i kept asking if he has a problem and he kept saying if you want me to stop i will stop, but i asked him months ago and it didn't work. i am so scared he is addicted and has got a serious problem, i have no idea how to get through to him but i don't want to tell my parents because it caused huge problems within our family i need serious help please |

Marijuana is one of the SAFEST drugs known to man. Maybe you need to read more, instead of just listening to the government saying "OMFG IF YOU SMOKE MARIJUANA YOU'RE GONNA RAPE YOUR DOG AND SNIFF COCAINE UP YOUR NOSE ". Cannabis is not an addictive drug. Cases of psychological dependency have been reported, but this is rare. Actual withdrawal symptoms do not exist, but they have been falsely reported in the past. When heavy users stop consuming cannabis the user notices that they feel differently because of the lack of cannabis. The reason this occurs is that the heavy user becomes so used to the symptoms of being high(like increased appetite) that the lack of these symptoms is unusual to them, leading them to think that they are going through withdrawal. Leave him alone, and if you live in a MMJ state tell him to get a card. |

You can't really get a serious addiction to weed. My brother smokes every day but still maintains a 4.0 at a very good college (UC Davis), and he can stop smoking whenever he wants without any problems or side effects. He probably just wants to enjoy himself and tells you he's gonna quit in order to appease you. |

Sorry to say but smoking weed does not mean you have a drug addiction, first of all you cant be addicted to weed secondly weed is healthier then smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol combined. He could be doing much worse things then just smoking weed! |
